Leather with a pleasant smokiness is on the nose. I don’t want to imply this vintage was contaminated by woodsmoke, rather it gives off a naturally smoky impression — one that you might get from cured meats — on top of the leather. Dried cherries on the front. Medium tannic balance. And the smoky impression returns on the finish. This wine is a little edgier than your standard Willamette Pinot. At first, I didn’t care for this wine, but it grew on me after the second glass.
