Not sure what others who have had this reservation are talking about. I just had the 2001 and this wine aged to perfection, cooler was light, brick, Georgia clay, yet the flavors where top notch. Lucky to have it, had their 2011 Brunelo the other day and that is nails as well.

1 person found it helpfulAug 26th, 2017Castelnuovo dell'abate area of Montalcino, new style softness, alcohol has to be high 14's or above. Would have enjoyed this more at a younger age with more fruit in the balance buffering alcohol. Still nice meaty, iron style.

16 yrs in the bottle. Earthy with hints of anise and currant. A few more Italian wines like this and I might have to start stocking up.
