Rich and fruity right off the bat but dry herbs and flowers appear after giving it a few whirls. There is a clear sweetness to the wine and some alcohol heat. The fruit is dark and warm.

Classic straightforward amarone. I find it a bit lacking in complexity but the flavors are pure : plum, cherry, a bit of anise and leather and something herbal reminiscent of Rhône garrigue. Good length. Full bodied (over 15% abv)

The 2017 Amarone Classico Costasera is intense, with masses of dried black cherries and mocha complicated by spiced citrus rinds and a dusting of cocoa. This is a total pleasure on the palate, seamlessly silky and elegant with a spicy core of red fruits. The 2017 tapers off with tremendous length, staining the palate in youthful concentration yet remaining completely fresh. (Eric Guido, Vinous, March 2023)

The 2016 Amarone Classico Costasera wafts up with rich notes of custard, cinnamon and dark chocolate before revealing its black cherry fruit. This is silky-smooth yet deep with herbal-tinged red and blue berries along with exotic inner florals. There’s a beautiful harmony here, as purple-tinged florals and autumnal spices linger incredibly long. The 2016 is only lightly structured, full of character and incredibly elegant. It’s a balanced pleasure bomb of an Amarone. (Eric Guido, Vinous, April 2022)

An elegant Amarone. This light-to-medium bodied wine presents gorgeous dried fruit flavor of raisin, prune, and cherry with nutmeg, clove, pepper, cocoa, and cinnamon. Reminiscent of an oatmeal raisin cookie without being too sweet. Good acidity. Not as thick and sugary as past Amarones I've had.

Entry level but lively! Jammy, peppery, Christmas spices, cinnamon, leather, toasted notes, elegant, sapid, warm yet smooth.

This could probably benefit from some aging but drinking well now. Elegant aromas of dried cherries, fruit compote, spices, cocoa, and hints of exotic woods.
