I may have sampled this when it was past its prime but it was totally one dimensional. Lacked acid or tannins or bark or bite or aromas or pretty much anything interesting. Super disappointed from a $35 bottle. — 2 months ago
Not as rich as the Hermitage, but still very good. Floral aromas, orchard fruit, minerals. Nice weight and finish. — 3 months ago
Berries, licorice, winter spices (nutmeg, ginger, cardamom, cloves, allspice), vanilla bean, toasted hazelnuts, and hints of dill. Awesome complexity for the price range. Killer QPR. — 3 months ago
The 2023 has markedly more complexity than the 2022 and has strong notes of dried mango and fresh passion fruit. Fruit cocktail rounds it out. Super refreshing. Killer for the money, even if the finish is a bit weak. — 2 days ago
This could probably benefit from some aging but drinking well now. Elegant aromas of dried cherries, fruit compote, spices, cocoa, and hints of exotic woods. — 2 months ago
Solid dry Mosel Spatlese Riesling. Balanced citrus, slate, and petrol aromas. Heavy mouth feel. Not as complex as others I've had recently, but I'm biased having sampled many reserve and Alsatian grand crus. — 3 months ago
Lovely Ribera with notes of tobacco, cherries, toasted coconut, and hints of umami and citrus peel.
Needs time to breathe. Finish a bit short but good for the price range. — 14 days ago
Dried berries, strawberry preserves, black pepper, espresso, bittersweet chocolate, and llicorella. Tastes of rose petal infused black tea, raspberry preserves, strawberry jam. — 2 months ago
Bananas foster, Christmas fruitcake, with balanced gun smoke aromas. Much fruitier and more concentrated than the Warres. Fantastic. — 3 months ago
Tobin Spratte
As good as any from this region, with the classic dolostone and Asian pear aromas. — 2 days ago
