Cassis nose, dusty and a little burnt. Very ripe fruit on the palate, sweet, but a bit muddy. Decent wine, not the best qpr.

The 2016 'CVR' is an absolutely stunning release from Quilceda Creek. It takes on instant appeal, as the nose is very pretty and perfumed with red rose petals that combine with the marvelous dark and blue fruits. The texture is outstanding with a wonderfully rich and polished mouthfeel. Delicious flavors of ripe red, dark and blue fruit combine with a touch of chocolate to envelope the palate heading into the long finish. While this is already remarkable in its youth, it should also cellar well over the next ten to fifteen years. Drink 2020-2032- 93

The 2016 ‘CVR’ Red Wine is a stunning new bottling by this famed winery. The nose is very pretty and perfumed with red rose petals that combine with the marvelous dark and blue fruits on the nose. The texture here is outstanding with a wonderfully rich mouthfeel. Ripe red and dark fruits with a touch of blueberry compote and chocolate flavors all combine marvelously on the palate. While remarkable in its youth, this will cellar well over the next ten to fifteen years. Drink 2019-2032- 93

Popping this young bottle to see how it is. Tasted after a 30m decant. Fleshy, full, alcohol heavy notes with a subtle overlay of tobacco, leather, cassis, and something vegetal. The bouquet is feels embryonic. Palette is thick and soft. Black pepper and cassis again. Tannins are subtle at first and then drying in the long finish. Acid is in balance. Mid palette is still asleep. This is, as expected, in an opulent style. It drinks nicely, but, yes,it’s exceptionally young. I’ll wait a few years before popping my next.
