Wild blackberries peppered up with earthy funk... Not exactly what I expected from Schioppettino... Fine tannins and fresh acidity.

Hmm. Kinda like a mencia? After little CO2 blows off a rush of strawberry, raspberry, etc and mineral savor. Medium weight, relatively high acid, I get why this is a standard bearing estate in the region

Would prefer this was categorized as Schiopettino by @Delectable Wine. This is the poster child for grape varietals rescued from the brink of extinction, and I’m glad it was. Loved the purity of bright red/blue fruit, savory herb and peppercorn notes, violet nose, and earthen leather finish. Tannins are mellow and velvety, acidity is fresh and lively. Close your eyes and you might think it was a young Cote-Rotie in the traditional style.

Oct 31st, 2017Lighter bodied, cranberry up front with some earthiness and pepper on the finish. Similar to a Morgon Beaujolais
