Westerly Wines
Fletcher's Red Blend
California, USA

#AgedWineTuesday
Dark ruby in color with a wide brick rim.
Showing a beautiful nose with black currants, black plums, cooked cherries, figs, cedar, light vanilla, licorice, light earth, milk chocolates, black tea, cloves, green herbs, mediterranean spices, tobacco leaf and dark coffee.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with cooked cherries, blueberries, black plums, mediterranean spices, cedar, licorice, chocolates, eucalyptus, tobacco leaf, peppercorn, earth and herbs.
Long long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This 14 year old red blend from Santa Ynez Valley in California is just gorgeous now. Elegant and nicely balanced with soft a mouthfeel. Rich and fruit forward, tangy and engaging.
Drinking from a half bottle, so probably aged faster, and feels like a 20 year old Napa Bordeaux blend.
What a great surprise. So much complexity, on both the nose and palate. Showing perfect balance, and the alcohol is not noticeable at all.
Drinking at its peak now, and will continue to do so in the next few years.
Good right out of the bottle, and a great sipping wine. Such a pleasure.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
95 points.
$75.
