A really nice bottle. Nice mix of ripe deep fruit and savory notes. A touch of gravel/dust, nicely softened tannins and balanced floral elements. Lingering lifted finish. Power and elegance in each sip, and improved the second night. — 6 years ago

If this isn’t perfect, I don’t know what is. What is most striking to me is the balance of the wine. It is big, and complex and flavorful in many ways. But it brings an embrace of elegance and touch beyond. cherries, medium dark fruits, dust, graphite, hints of spice. Tannins are fine grained. Wonderful acidity and lengthy finish. Just such a nice package- every time I went to smell it or taste it, there was another nuance and layer to consider. Decanted about 5 hrs, and was doing well at that point. Drank with Flannery strips for the holiday. — 5 years ago

Nice deep fruit. Tannins are evolving but certainly still present. Some dirt/gravel, hints of leather and cedar. Nice acidity and length. Better several hours after opening. — 7 years ago

Fantastic aged California cabernet. Blind I would have said Ridge Monte Bello from the mid 90s. It possesses those red cabernet fruit notes, eucalyptus, touches of fennel. Beautiful acidity and nice long pleasing finish. Plenty of depth and extract. Harkens to the good old days. — 6 years ago

A lot of power, plenty of fruit and acidity for days. This is in a nice spot, but still on the way up. There’s a nice dusty/tar note, fennel, a touch of leather, maybe even a hint of violets. Best with a big rich meal. — 7 years ago
