Wine with my bride. — 7 years ago
Last bottle purchased at the winery 14 years ago! Our 39th today, celebrating at Gianni! Terri bought us some champagne to open the evening while the wine decant. Man ...its FANTASTIC right now, leather, black fruits, and very deep color......deep dark ruby! Outstanding, and enjoying with me bride! — 9 years ago
Nice deep ruby color with a nose of dark berries, chocolate and a hint of tar. Nice flavors consistent with the nose. A smooth wine with good tannin structure and balance. Nice finish. Tannins are there to allow at least another 2-3 years of aging if not quite a bit more. Nice date at home with my bride of 20 years and a couple of months. — 5 years ago
Opened first bottle of mixed case to celebrate anniversary for 3rd decade (cheated a bit as this was 29 years with wonderful bride Kim. Lots of dark fruit with just a touch of tannic finish. We visited Al on our honeymoon to pass muster before he sold a case futures. Quite a character! btw, Groth & Girard were Cans for first 2 decades. — 7 years ago
Masterclass in San Francisco with Saskia De Rothschild, Chairwoman DBR Lafite.
Saskia told me they are buying an existing property or starting one in China.
The nose reveals; ripe and slight stewed fruits. Blackberries, dark cherries, black raspberries, dark plum skin, dry cranberries & poached strawberries. Dark, dry soils, limestone minerals, touch of bandaid=VA, saddle-wood, steeped black tea, dry river stone, dark rich & dry soils, crushed rocks, dry underbrush, cherry cola with dry and fresh dark and red flowers.
The body is full and thick. This wine is just coming out of its infant stage and just starting to stretch it arms & legs. The tannins are firm, rounded and powdery. The structure, tension, length and balance show the beauty of the vintage but, the drinking window on their 2000 is somewhere between 2035-2080. Blackberries, dark cherries, black raspberries, dark plum skin, dry cranberries & poached strawberries. Dark, dry soils, limestone minerals, touch of bandaid, saddle-wood, steeped black tea, dry river stone, dark rich & dry soils, lots of graphite, crushed rocks, limestone, dry crushed rocks, gritty volcanic minerals, dry herbs, dry underbrush, cherry cola with dry and fresh dark and red flowers. The acidity is round and beautiful. The finish is very good now but, if you don’t cellar it 35 years from birth, you are cheating yourself out of something truly special. Its well balanced, rich, ripe and persists for days. 95 now with more to come in 16-25 plus years.
All wines arrived weeks ago directly from the Chateau.

Baby’s 1st parcela unica and gotta say, it delivered! I like the Envinate Lousas wines—they’re always pretty good but usually a bit green and not profundo imo. This one started that way but as it opened, the high acid rolled off to reveal an extremely terroir driven wine, ripping w tension and minerality. The Lousas mencias usually give fancy n rhone vibes to me (i.e. entry level jamet), but Seoane had more of a juicy mineral burg thing going on (think Irancy) than a meaty rock thing. The bride observed wisely that this wine tasted very mineral and oceanic, but more like a seaside cliff than a briny beach. — 3 years ago
Cab Sav and Syrah blend a little heavier than we normally choose but an excellent wine very tasty! My Christmas prezzo from my bride...xxx — 5 years ago
When you first open the bottle, you get a rush of flowers run through your nose. And that at the begin sets a tone for a light wine that is full of flavor. — 6 years ago
Great 2005 Burgundy with my bride! Givry does not disappoint. — 6 years ago
Drank at L’Oustalet, Gigondas (Perrin/Beaucastel restaurant) for lunch, 10/5/19. Then, bought a bottle in Gigondas and drank it in Paradou with my bride of 41 years whom I love. Delish! — 7 years ago
Drank over 6 weeks opened in my fridge and it stayed fresh throughout. Richly layered aromas and flavors of chocolates, pistachio, green grapes, and honeydew melon with floral undertones. Savory but offset by some residual sugar. Sufficiently robust for the main course. Really nice. — 8 years ago
Sweet grass, straw, and lavender. Soft flavors with deep richness. Amazingly good. — 8 years ago

30 years old and still bringing it. Drank with my blushing bride of 51 years on Valentine’s Day. It was a good choice. Both. — a year ago
