Château Simard

Château Simard

Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend

2016 vintage. 75 Merlot and 25 /Cabernet Franc).Owned by the Vauthier family (of Ausone fame),this is one of their cheaper offerings. The 2016 drinks well now. I like the rather restrained style of this wine, with its distinctive minerality. Don't expect a flashy "sweet" style, but more of an understated, gastronomic wine. Moreover, it doesn't break the bank. Abv. 13,5%. Even better the next day. — 13 days ago

Opaque blood red, slightly burgundy colour, a lot of (American?) Oak on the nose, leather, chewy tannins — 4 years ago

More sharp and compact than the Simard, a more intense tannic grip. Needs time! — 12 years ago
