Gigondas 2019 Castel "Séries Limitées". Winemaker Cédric Jenin is doing a great job with this high-end small batches series. This Gigondas is sourced from a high altitude (300 m) 7 hectares organic plot on the Dentelles de Montmirail. Intense perfume with Amarena cherries, flowers and spices, like a dry Vintage Port. Grenache wouldn't be Grenache without the high alcohol (15,5%), but it's beautifully balanced by fresh acidity. Intense, with layers of jammy fruit and spices, while maintaining freshness. Very long spicy finish. Impressive. — 2 months ago
Quite intriguing, not a style of winemaking I reach for often, but an example of it done well. Minimal extraction and no SO2 with the allure and charm this has can be quite difficult. It’s a little skanky upon first opening, but after a night in the bottle it cleaned up considerably, the brett and VA melted into the wine a little more and its muddled melange of red fruit and earth became apparent. Crushed rainer cherry, decaying strawberries, rhubarb compote, white pepper, sweaty brett. I like blurring the lines between light red and rosé, and the wine worked well with roast chicken w/ spices and poblano mashers night one and fared well with tomato/avocado salad and grilled sardines the next night. That versatility at the table was impressive. — 6 years ago
Like Lirac and chateauneuf du pape, smooth with some sweetness to it a little bit of tannins on the finish. — 8 years ago

Most expensive worn in the menu but not as good as the previous one! — 5 years ago
Viognier, from cool and high-altitude reaches of the Dentelles de Montmirail. Asian pear, acacia and just enough tartness and pucker to let you know this isn’t bruised, hot-climate, picked-too-late stuff. Impeccably balanced, long, graceful. I’d put this into a northern Rhône tasting anytime. #domainesaintamant #rhône #viognier — 7 years ago

Halos de Jupiter Blanc – white blend – 2024
Côtes du Rhône AOP – Southern Rhône, France 🇫🇷
Overview
A classic Southern Rhône white blend composed of 50% Grenache Blanc, 30% Roussanne, and 20% Marsanne, sourced from vineyards overlooking the Dentelles de Montmirail and Mont Ventoux. Crafted to highlight freshness and complexity rather than weight, this wine captures the authentic character of White Côtes du Rhône at an impressive value-driven price point.
Aromas & Flavors
White peach, ripe pear, and lemon zest open the nose, followed by subtle floral notes, almond skin, and a touch of Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, layers of stone fruit, citrus oil, and gentle savory undertones unfold with balance and clarity.
Mouthfeel
Medium-bodied and smooth, with a rounded texture from Grenache Blanc and Marsanne, lifted by the freshness and structure of Roussanne. Nicely balanced acidity keeps the wine energetic and food-friendly, with a clean, satisfying finish.
Food Pairings
Grilled fish, roasted chicken, white meats, fresh goat cheese, or simple Mediterranean dishes with olive oil and herbs.
Verdict
A delicious, approachable, and expressive white Rhône blend that delivers complexity and regional character without excess. Compelling, versatile, and outstanding for the price, a strong example of what White Côtes du Rhône does best. — 2 months ago
