Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2016

Outstanding modern BDM. First when tasted I hardly could feel Sangiovese, After a half an hour it was a refined BDM — a month ago

Fuligni leans more traditional than modern; using large botti grande (although there are some tonneaux in the cellar as well)

Ginestreto Rosso di Montalcino Sangiovese 2023

This gorgeously textured Rosso should be ideal with tonight’s mushroom enhanced Risotto. The 2023 Fuligni is everything one would, or could, ask from a young Rosso di Montalcino.

Beautiful, deep garnet appearance; loads of primary red fruits and earthy woodland aspects; Medium>full, balanced and well structured with perfumed aromatics, juicy acidity and very fine tannins that finish long. @klwines

Riserva Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 1997

Gets better year over year. Traditional versus modern style is an ongoing battle in the region. Not here! — 12 years ago

S.J. Rosso di Montalcino Sangiovese 2016

Big, decadent plummy chocolate covered strawberries. A supervillain from Tuscany. 80% Sangio, 20% merlot. Bright in the mouth with vibrant cherry acid. Finish of decimated fleshy preserved strawberries. Big (14.5%), but not brooding. — 4 years ago
