To be specific, this is the Laubenheimer Karthauser Riesling Trocken. Very exuberant nose. Loads of bright, ripe green apple fruit, a little fresh green herb (tarragon?), a yeasty note, and loads of slatey minerals. Very fruity on the palate, round textured, acids are quite soft. A bright and pretty color of pale lemon with hint of green. Like a sophisticated limeade. A really superb nose- with lemon oil, some petrol, kumquat, lime. Very distinctively Riesling but so harmonious and complex. On the palate very intense and detailed. Still clearly sweet but the sweetness is very integrated. Great acidity still and a long finish. Excellent stuff-what a treat when there’s enough age to hit this balance. Years ahead too! — 7 years ago

Very nice Mosel Riesling with some good bottle age. Pretty fresh on the nose, no real hint of the more oxidative flavors of age. On the palate this is wide ranging and mouth filling. Lacked a bit of acid on the cooler side but once it warmed a bit this sang. Very long finish with an interesting saline / slightly metallic persistence a few seconds after a sip. Had with a variety of seafood at Le Bernadin and was a great pairing to all. — 9 years ago

So, NOT A SPAT! It's very dry Mosel Riesling. Ways to find very dry Riesling 1) must be qualitat not Pradikat 2) must say trocken and not mention ripeness levels (kabinett, spat, etc) 3) alc is usually elevated, 12+.. I put spat because there's like 100 different options for this vineyard. Annoying. Anyways saline rubber nose, Meyer lemon salty spicy palate, heavy dried pineapple and grass to it. My friend studying to be a winemaker thought this was disgusting, I appreciate the honesty but it was solid😒😂 — 9 years ago
