Fantastic wine. Meaty, gamey, bloody floral symphony in full gear. Huge granite expression as well. Awesome inner mouth aromas and density. Very Cornas. Amazing freshness from acid and granite. Richly textured but teeming with energy and the granite expression is best ever for this wine in 2023. Like, wow. Amazing finish. Why this is so slept on I will never know. Spice, flowers, deep berry fruit echo forever on the finish. Outrageous core of sweet, energetic blackberry fruit. Just such top class winemaking here. — 2 days ago

Black fruit, black cherries, spices, slight hints of licorice on the very Pinot Noir nose. The palate is structured, medium to strong bodied and very typical of Nuits Saints Georges but with good fruit and balance, making it a good delicious bottle, would be perfect with a touch more length. 90-91 pts

Drank this during the CellarTracker Virtual Burgundy Tasting last night via Zoom. My first experience with any of the wines of Domaine Julien. This was a pop and pour situation and I wished I had given it more airtime because this was suuuuuuper primary and tightly coiled. Loads of tart, wild alpine strawberries, like the Smultron you find in a Scandinavian forest, taking center stage. Tongue pricking acidity. Beyond that, there isn’t much more at this stage in development. However, the purity is beyond typical for a humble Bourgogne and a few years in the cellar would do this a great service. I expect better things when the tannins better integrate and secondary characteristics begin to appear. Drink with an extended decant or hold until 2025. — 6 years ago

Hugely reduced out of the gates. Wow huge sulfur. Palate is red fruited, silky and so supple. Needs mega mega air. Wow what a nose now with air. Olive explosion. feral, meaty, charcuterie and so classic. Palate is so fresh, energetic and silky. So so supple. Amazing purity. Nose still not quite there but it’s going to get there. So silky and such refined tannins. Substantial but refined. Amazing presence. — 2 years ago
