Bodegas San Valero was formed in 1944 by 60 local wine growers. Today it covers 3,800 acres of vines with more than 700 members.
Dried herbs, black raspberries, pomegranate and sweet spice.
Vibrant and floral.
Medium bodied but carrying a greater weight and mouthfeel with an amazing clean finish. — 2 years ago

Excellent table wine, strong 15%, deep red, nice taste and fruity, good fit to red meat (Chateaubriand)
CHF 45.00 — 4 years ago
Red cherry, strawberry, plum, fresh herbs, balsamic, and hint of lavender fills an aromatic and deep nose. Soft juicy entry with flavors mimic the nose but lightly candied. Medium to full body that’s beautifully textured. Bright acidity and polished tannins.
This is in great contrast to Alto Moncayo, showing off PN-like elegance. Still packing a punch though. Need to find couple of bottles to cellar. — 5 years ago
A rarity. On the nose, honey, quince, pastry. Rich and fatty on the palate. Candied lemons, nectarine, spice, and minerality. Perhaps some oxi handling? Delicious and interesting drop.
Note: From a tiny vineyard of 0.2 hectares of mixed Garnacha Blanca and Garnacha Gris planted on sandy quartz and granite, El Tamboril is a remarkable example of how Spain has begun to redefine itself as capable of producing white wines that rival those of Germany and Burgundy. Hand harvested and whole cluster pressed directly into a 600 liter barrel, El Tamboril remains in the same cask for its native fermentation and aging. It rests there for 14 months after which it is bottled directly from barrel. — 9 years ago
Notes of raspberry and dark chocolate on the nose. Very well balanced taste not too dry or sweet, some minerals notes. Excellent. — 9 months ago

I gave this 15 or 20 minutes and then decided if I was going to drink wine tonight, then it wouldn't be this. 4 hours later and the nose is more Alto Moncayo than Alto Moncayo... Banana-Vanilla Creme Pie on steroids. Unfortunately it doesn't quite carry the weight of Alto on the palate, but at $12, is a comparison anything but unfair? This is shockingly good and a completely different wine than what I tasted 4 hours ago. — 9 years ago
Made like a Pinot - whole bunch - delicious. — a year ago
This is great, and a good value at $50. Complex nose with everything from balsamic vinegar to charred meat. Full, viscous on palate. An interesting, well made wine, that easily accommodates the ABV of 16%. — 2 years ago
My favorite of German Blanco’s single-vineyard wines in Bierzo. Field blend of mostly Mencia with some Garnacha Tintorera, Godello and Doña Blanca from a small plot with very old vines (100+ years old) in Albares de la Ribera, in Bierzo Alto (very cold, high altitude). Co-fermented in amphora and aged for 13 months in neutral oak. Red fruit aromas and flavors. Fresh, lively — 4 years ago

Get hip to this rose. More like a brown. Super geek wine. Oxidative on purpose. Reminds me of...wait for it...bourbon — 9 years ago
