This was pretty damn good. Stood up well in terms of concentration and depth against the Gramenon I had the night before (this was from memory of course). I guess pairing it with one of the best beef short ribs I've ever eaten does not help to keep it unbiased. — 9 years ago

Opened directly into decanter....but stole a first sip - bright cherry and pretty intense menthol out of the gate - felt illegal so waited and hour for second sip, which still had the cherry but menthol turns to soap, just overly intensely perfumed. Waited four hours. Super soft earth and delicate fruit, gorgeous with a pork shoulder. Demure, even coy - you have to keep finding it. — 6 years ago

Crazy good albeit a little ripe, exudes character. Lots of Scortched earth, charcoal and camphor, complimented by dark berry and winter spices. Truly great and hard to believe I bought recently for under $40. I’ve had the current vintage and it reminds me of either gramenon (kermit) or domaine du mas blanc (colliure). Very nice and interesting Syrah from the Rhone. Aromatically not that intense, but this has great freshness and acidity, with medium tannins. More purity of restrained fruit than earth or funk. Quite nice with a ribeye at Prairie Whale in the Berkshires. — 9 years ago
