Not my style but surprisingly well-balanced for something so big/fruit-forward/sweet — 7 years ago

Valdivieso of Chile, central valley, Caballo Loco #8. 14% alc. This blend is unknown as the grapes are not mentioned on the bottle. The color is ruby red with a tint of brown like we see in most French wines. The bouquet is like an Italian Sangiovese with hints of blueberry pie and dandelions. The palate is characteristic of dark cherry and blueberry and a hint of dark currant. There is a slight hint of oak and moss. No spice, no other real flavors that I can detect. A very simple wine. The finish is quick and mildly dry. Not my favorite, but not bad for a South American wine. — 8 years ago
A big Sangiovese with some punch to it, this is a great general purpose food wine. Predominant flavors are cherry and dark plum, with some acidity to the finish. It is fuller bodied than the average Sangiovese, pairing nicely adobo loco steak with poblano, corn, and crispy potato hash. Bellissimo! — 9 years ago

Great fruit, a good amount of oak. Would like to see how things integrate in a few years, but still tasty nonetheless. — 9 years ago

Grapefruit and stone fruit with mineral and wet stone on the nose. Some stone fruit coming through in the flavor. Good. Nice finish. Not much as far as citrus flavors are concerned. Quaint. — 9 years ago
Cor intensa mas não vibrante. Corpo médio. Aroma de frutas e um pouco de álcool. O sabor é de vinho maduro e com amadeirado bem evidente. — 5 years ago
Spectacular GSM blend....I enjoy how the Syrah adds so much to this wine — 7 years ago
A wine we brought back from a wine bistro called Boconariz in Santiago a couple of years ago, this is absolutely terrific. Beautiful, intense red-purple color, the tannins are sweet and rich with a great hint of camphor on the nose. Well-integrated tannins with a rich mouthfeel, that camphor component is a bit more amplified on the palate, but not overwhelming by any means. Lingering, balanced finish. Hard to gauge how much longer this will continue to develop, but my guess is that’s it’s peaking right now. Terrific example of a carmenere! — 8 years ago

Jammy, fruity, nice drinkable wine. Had at Pasta Loco — 8 years ago
☄️ Yup, nice. Not your typical Aussie Shiraz. Big nose, but drinks like a cooler PN. Blackberry bush and creek bed. — 9 years ago
