From a 16 acre vineyard in the hills of Bel Air. Probably the most expensive vineyard property in the US. It’s currently owned by Rupert Murdoch, but this is from before his purchase in 2013. This is legit good. Much better than any Malibu wines I’ve had. 13.8 listed alcohol and fairly restrained style. Let’s rip down all of those mansions and plant some grapes! — 4 years ago
Seductive, medium bodied Chardonnay with tropical fruit and a dollop of oak imparting toasted coconut notes. A tasty single vineyard treat at $29.

Purchased wine during visit to tasting room in Los Olivos, California in October of 2021. Raspberry, pomegranate, minerality, nutmeg spice and a hint of orange peel. Nice structure and acidity. Paired well with food. — 5 years ago

Better than the 16, not as sweet.

The 2017 Chardonnay is soft, supple and absolutely delicious. Light tropical notes, lemon confit, white flowers and bright acids give the 2017 striking nuance as well as character. The Foxglove Chardonnay is built on a core of fruit from Los Alamos, with a touch of fruit from Paso Robles, vinified and aged in steel, with no malolactic fermentation. Best of all, it is a stunning value. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, September 2019) — 7 years ago

Dang, this wine has such a unique, complex expression, hopping across layered aroma and flavor categories! It’s a 2014 Rogue Vine, Grand Itata Tinto, Los Amigos Red Blend hailing from the granite hills of ITATA in Southern Chile.
This wine is made with 95% Cinsault and 5% Pais varieties, coming from organically grown, dry-farmed (no irrigation), bush-trained vines that are over 60 years old!!
This wine has a pale ruby hue with secondary garnet influences.
On the nose, it has developing, intense aromas of black cherry, strawberry, anise, mint, eucalyptus, potpourri, clove, black olive, rooibos tea, tobacco, cigar, peat moss, and leather.
On the palate this wine is dry, it has medium acidity, medium alcohol (12.8%), a medium body, medium(-) tannins, and medium(+) intensity in flavors consistent with the nose. The finish lingers.
I love that this wine is the product of a fierce passion, shared by friends (and friends of friends), who have committed themselves to producing expressive Itata wines that are gulpably delicious! Salud! — 4 years ago

Blend of #chardonnay #gewürtztraminer and #moscatel #muscat Chardonnay is the leading grape. Fresh and juicy, reminiscent of Sta Rita Hills. — 7 years ago
In hills of Paso Robles, not far from Hearst castle, there is a man with a Homeric vision. His name is Daniel Daou and he is devoting his life to creating outstanding Cabernet’s. Deep red with dark berry nose, aged for 11 months on French oak (60% new). On the palate blackberry, black cherry and licorice, pepper spice with savory fine tannins. Medium+ finish ending with cacao and earthy herbs. Great value. The ‘17 is a bit richer than ‘16. Tasting Sample. — 7 years ago

Beautiful nose on this, remembering why I bought this while in the tasting room in Sta. Rita Hills (nice little spot in Los Olivos, highly recommend). Med+ intensity on the nose with bright cherry and strawberry. A bit of cedar/vanilla, but not much. Floral notes that almost turn to candy or runts. Nice on the palate too with a big pop of red fruit, med+ acidity and nice fine, integrated tannins. Long finish that sort of turns from sweet to tart cherry. Just a really nice wine. I scored a 93 but guessing this will improve and become a bit more elegant with a few more years. — 8 months ago
