PERFECTION!
A beautiful split of 50% Syrah and 32% Graciano and 18% Grenache all from the James Berry Vineyard. This full-bodied wine was fermented with whole clusters and barrel aged for two years in 50% new French oak. Deep blackberry fruit, rich and layered flavors of cassis and licorice with a subtle background meatiness. Drinking nicely on release, yet will evolve gracefully for over a decade.

Feel like I might have to turn here with Saxum price increases…
@Shay A it’s so funny that people often think they’re two in the same but honestly the turtle rock wines are way more lifted and elegant compared for saxum which is so velvety and full throttled. I like the richness and excessiveness of saxum and sometimes I prefer the more nuanced and bright turtle rock
@Alex Lallos : I don’t disagree. I enjoy both. But, I’d be lying if I said I enjoyed Saxum just as much now at $135/bottle versus when they were $95/bottle last year.

We had the 2014 Vintage on 2/27-28/26. Tastes of candied apple and bing cherry. A very good wine. The tastes now are different from when I had the same wine 6 years ago. Interesting. The remarkable comment is how this wine is sailing four years after the notes say it should be consumed — a month ago
