Donnas 2018

Very nice, esp for $23. Well balanced, light body. Real complexity if you savor and swirl. But very easy drinking too. 13.5% al. I think Nebbiolo? Buy again. — 4 years ago

Chateau Feuillet

Valle d'Aosta DOC Fumin 2016

My first fumin. Dark fruit, earth, spice, leather. For a wine that was 6 years old, it still had a remarkable Alpine freshness to it that I found to be very exciting. Will definitely try others! 90% Fumin, 10% Syrah. 8/14/22. — 4 years ago

La Kiuva

Rouge de Vallée Red Blend 2022

This is terrific. Majority picotendro, the local clone of Nebbiolo, along with 3 local grapes I’ve never heard of. An earlier review listed them, if you’re curious. This is an alpine Nebbiolo. Light, slightly sour cherry/ raspberry with a wee bit of earthiness. A mouthful of flavor. Tannins are there but integrated pretty well. Will buy this again. Think it was @$18! — 10 months ago

Feudo Di San Maurizio

Valle d'Aosta Mayolet 2016

At nine years old, this may have been a touch past its prime, but it still drank pretty well. Dark fruit and tobacco were dominant on the nose and palate, with hints of earth, cinnamon, and pepper coming through as well. Would like to try a younger bottling sometime soon for comparison. 100% Mayolet. 5/5/25. — a year ago

Les Crêtes

Valle d'Aosta Pinot Nero 2020

Delectable Wine
9.2

The 2020 Pinot Nero is such a pretty and finessed varietal expression that mixes alpine herbs with wild strawberries and crushed rocks. It’s elegant with silky textures that usher in masses of lavender-tinged black cherries and spices, as juicy acidity maintains fantastic balance. The 2020 leaves a coating of fruit concentration along with sweet tannins that add a gentle grip, promising a steady evolution. That said, there is no harm in drinking this today. Ermes Pavese

Blanc de Morgex et de la Salle Prié Blanc

Revisiting an old friend. From one of Europe’s highest vineyards. Pure, clean citrus fruit hits you right away like a freshly melted alpine stream in spring. As the bottle warms up, unexpected tropical notes emerge - coconut and pineapple (aka nuances of piña colada). — 9 months ago
