With a dark golden/medium copper coloring, which is maintain in the glass and provokes a very inviting feeling, this whiskey produces legs that are readily apparent and mark the glass for a lengthy period.
The nose is lightly floral, with fruity notes and some sweet vanilla and oak, and with no noticeable alcohol burn. It’s a medium nose that is easily picked up.
The whisky produces a wonderful mouthfeel, one that lightly covers the entire mouth with a slight syrupy feel, and yet it’s not oily. The flavor profile is subtle to moderate, with most action in the back of the mouth. The whisky provides flavors of berries, oak, sherry and some sweet vanilla as well. The finish is medium, but turns on some spice and delights the taste buds with some interesting baking spices. — 5 years ago
Golden amber color. Briny, diluted iodine, smoky, red fruit, floral and herbal notes on the nose. Warm mouthfeel. Hints of sherry and stewed fruits on the palate. — 6 years ago
Mild and delicate. Lemon and white chocolate on the nose as well as on the palette. Also on the palette, flavors of praline appear with mild peat and saline. The finish is Christmas spices with a hint of cigar box. — 6 years ago
Pinapple, pear nose. Smoky, hint of sweetness on palate, quite smooth and long lasting. — 7 years ago
Nose is camp fire, pepper, sea breeze, and some faint lemon peel.
Pretty dry up front with big spice/pepper notes. Smoke builds on palate and crescendos in a salty smoked bacon note with some lemon pith. Long, savory finish.
An Islay beauty. Not as much malt or wood sweetness as others, but really nice brine notes and plastic phenolic notes are subdued. Yum. — 7 years ago
Beautiful color of deep red tea. Nose of some tea, sweet and spicy caramel, intense stingy fermented grains, and nice oak. Taste is quite smooth with some tea flavors again, also some citrus peel, sweet apple, while fermented grains flavor comes next. Aftertaste is medium long with nice zesty balance and flowering note. Quite a nice bottle. — 9 years ago
So smooth & unique at $75.00
elgian Michel Couvreur was an independent bottler of single-malt Scotch (and this apprentice Jean-Arnaud has carried on after studying under Michel for more than a decade). The cellars are located in Bouze-lès-Beaune in the heart of Burgundy, where Michel aged his single malts for years in sherry butts and then in demijohns or giant bottles kept in total darkness in the exceptionally well-protected underground galleries of Bouze-lès-Beaune. Vatted from 54 whiskies aged 12 to 27 years in oak casks, this malt has a rich amber color, a nose full of dried flowers, tobacco leaf, Jerez wine, and fat almond, plus a powerful, fruity, long finish. What a fantastic accompaniment to smoked salmon when served over ice. It is also perfect as a dinner digestive served at room temperature. — 4 years ago
New addition to the cabinet, first Dalmore. On the nose very bizarre, albeit tantalizing notes of clove, star anise, and candied orange peel. On the palate very smooth yet expressive notes of roasted coffee and espresso-dark chocolate nibs. Lovely scotch. — 6 years ago

Whats the ABV?Color of black tea. Nose is peaty, fermented grains, spices, and some ripe fruit note. Taste follows similar notes with addition of sweet caramel. Aftertaste is some more salty mineral and baked apple. Flavors are right to the point with decent concentration. — 8 years ago
Color of tea. Nose of smoke, peat, sweet dates, spicy and strong alcohol, and more coal like peat. The nose is powerful. Taste is another hit of smoky peat. First sip is dry, however the sweetness surfaces later. Hidden note of marginal sweet apple. Aftertaste shows some baked apple and more smoky peat note. Clean, powerful, straightforward, and tasty. — 4 years ago
Peated nose (of course!), along with a hint of dates. Peat and heat at the start, with slight notes of sea greens. Finishes with brown sugar sweetness. — 5 years ago
This might be my favorite Speyside. Very pleasant nose with complex, deep flavors. Well balanced and smooth. — 6 years ago
Shláinte! Purchased in 1990 at the distillery and opened this year. After 40 years (1980) enticing aromas of smoky peat perfume fill my nose. Upon my palette the silky smooth whiskey caresses my tongue. Amazing experience! — 6 years ago
2019 edition, Campbeltown used whisky drawn from both Port casks and rum casks - 45% came from Port casks while the remaining 55% was drawn from rum casks. Distillery's note: "Nose: A delightful fruitiness bursts through; watermelon, strawberry laces, brambles and blueberries followed by crushed vanilla pods and glazed cherries. Taste: Chocolate covered oranges and Caramel shortcake! Deliciously full bodied, with tropical fruit squash, gingerbread and dried mango. Finish: A captivating Campbeltown Malt; sea salt, oily and fruity. Lemon sherbet, whipped cream, apple peel and salted pretzels complete this beautiful dram!" — 6 years ago

Not a great nose. Smooth and easy to drink. Nice flavors. A beautiful Scotch. — 7 years ago
Nose of baked apple dipped in vodka, with hint of peat and menthol, and a touch of oily aldehyde. Taste is surprisingly smooth. Nice honey flowering note, just a tiny bit of spice and zest, some stringent gasoline, and wood chips. What a smooth beauty as a young bottle. I will have her every evening. — 9 years ago

Balvenie Doublewood 12yr - the nose is light with a hint of wood. On the palate you get a bit more power and a full mouth warmth. Finish gives you more of that wood and heat. It’s a good, easy drinker. Won’t go out of my way to get but wouldn’t feel bad if given a dram. — a year ago
