Salvatore Molettieri

Vigna Cinque Querce Taurasi Aglianico 2015

Mo
9.2

WS: 93. Suave and harmonious, with a firm frame of fine-grained tannins married to ripe black and red currant fruit, iron and ash, anise, black tea leaf and citrus peel notes. This expands on the palate and through the long, mouthwatering finish. Drink now through 2035. 950 cases made, 400 cases imported.

@Josh Morgenthau of the vintages '11-'17 tasted around the same time post release, I would say '17 is my favorite young CE. But my '18s are coming next week, so perhaps I'll revise my assessment in a month or so...these wines seem to get better each vintage. There's always a Charlopin-esque strong reductive funk to start (so give these plenty of air and a long decant) but these are very much Oregon wines...and CE has a distinctive almost mushroomy character that comes out with age. Frequently the young CE is best on Day 3 open. I popped this bottle with the expectation that I will follow it for a few days...we'll see if it lasts that long!

@Josh Morgenthau I posted a longer comment that Delectable ate...yeah 17 is my favorite young CE vintage since '11. Give these lots of air!
