Light bodied but had some tannin hiding in the back. Wonder if they did some whole cluster fermentation. — 8 months ago

The 2004 Léoville-Poyferré has a light and airy bouquet with blackberry, antique bureau, forest floor and light fungal aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly dry tannins, a little austere but balanced, though I notice some attenuation and bitterness towards the finish. So-so for this estate. Tasted at the Léoville-Poyferré vertical at the château with Sara Lecompte Cuvelier. (Neal Martin, Vinous, September 2022)

Nice notes of cocoa and cherry. A grand easy drinking wine — 8 months ago
The 2020 Vieux Château Certan was picked from September 14 at a low yield of 30hl/ha. The nose might be even better than the 2019 with blackberry, black truffle, pencil shavings and a touch of sous-bois. The aromatics are heavenly, perhaps even more complex than the 2016. The palate is medium-bodied with a satin-textured entry and fabulous delineation. This is a Pomerol whose engine purrs like a vintage Rolls Royce. Maybe the 2019 has a touch more edginess on the finish but this is the real deal. It's a sensational, multi-dimensional Pomerol for the ages. Tasted at the VCC vertical in Etikhove, Belgium. Fun wine, extended skin contact - looks like a Rose and tasted like one too: mix between tart red fruit & savory notes, some potpourri, fairly exotic. Palate was bit more austere, open canvas for variety of light fare. We had huge salad w/smoked salmon and it was fantastic. Balanced and dry finish, go find some Georgian wine! — 8 months ago
