Otherworldly beauty from Jessica Pratt and Pascal Janvier. This album has a haunting quality to it, but it haunts in an addictive way. The songs feel familiar, but they keep a uniqueness that sounds fresh every time I play it. If you don’t own this record, buy it. Janvier’s Silex is everything to love about Chenin. It’s crisp & approachable, yet has countless layers of aromatics & simultaneously shows a basket of fruit and an ethereal transparent weight. This is just amazing tonight. — 7 years ago
Heavy on the Grenache and Mourvèdre in 2014. With a backbone of deep fruit Syrah and inky cinsaut to round it out — 8 years ago

2017 La Staffa Verdicchio with pesto pasta & veggies. Pretty much perfection in dinner right there. This was a little shy on the nose, but is opening up beautifully. This is a nuanced, beautiful wine that I’m fighting a battle not to to drink too quickly as I want to savor & enjoy it. The record finds Damien Jurado delivering some of his finest work. He tells great stories in his songs, but the arrangements are irresistible that accompany his brilliant words. Hope everyone’s Saturday is ending as nicely as ours. — 7 years ago
Supple wine, hint of melon with a vanilla nose. Nice finish. Highly recommend. Only 29 cases produced in 2009. — 8 years ago

2014 Bitouzet-Prieur Bourgogne and Now again ‘s excellent reissue of David Axelrod’s Songs of Experience. The wine is much like the record. Lots of highs & lows. Moments of beauty and elegance underscored by attention to detail & nuanced arrangements. This album showing up in the mail today equals a great Monday. — 8 years ago

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several hours. The 2017 “Les Saint Georges” pours a deep ruby color with a translucent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with gorgeous notes of raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, pomegranate, red flowers, sous bois, mushroom, and exotic spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. The nose alone is worthy of songs. Drink now through 2037. — a month ago
