Lodi Zinfandel 2021

Loved this. Perfectly balanced and dry but smooth. No bad aftertaste. But also no really impressive notes. — 7 months ago

Ladybird Brewing

Winfield Pale Ale

Fluffy off-white-to-beige head of tortoise plate fluffs recede to lacings of Draco-jabberwock surf-play among seabirds. Semi opaque amber unbudgingly stares out like gelatinous 5w-50 motor oil. Nose of bergamot and lemon, orange, tangerine and caramel drops with espresso notes and light pepper. Unexpectedly bread-y with Hawaiian and soda bread, rye and pumpernickel, finishing tangerine and grapefruit with faint white pepper. Just enough malt to crowd please with a solid beer upbringing. Serious take home to the folks fare.

A great find at this price point. Soft mouth feel, with mild tannin and taste of dark fruit. Went very well with roast chicken. — 4 years ago

Ayinger Brewery

Oktober-Fest Märzen

Gorgeous amber with orange evokes fine scotch. Tortoise shell lacing materializes. Orange bread and toasted sesame, Marcona almond, plantain and butternut squash pencil in the autumnal details. Poppyseed, toasty malt, allspice, acorn squash bread and a touch of ginger spice. Forgot what a seasonal treat this is!

This is up there in my top 5 this year - this is shooting at me 0 to 60 in a Porsche GTO or 3 seconds but finishing like the tortoise against the hare - a winner and in slow motion - but nice and smooth and long - wait now I am confused - am I drinking wine or getting ready for sex / oh wait - never mind - different story - but this is badass is a glass as my friend @Martin G Rivard would say

All smiles tonight

Finca Las Moras

Reserva San Juan Malbec 2014

Sweet and delectable with aromas of vibrant wild flowers. Goes perfectly with baby tortoise after violently shaking them into a soupy consistency. Also pairs well with turrialba cheese that is elegantly salted. — 11 years ago

California Pinot Noir 2019

Fantastic fuller bodied Pinot. Nose of raspberry and blackberry, maybe some cedar and plum. Decently strong tannins for a Pinot, though balanced, and a mid to full body and medium acidity. Paired well with dark meat roast turkey. — 5 years ago

Covert Estate

Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Shay A
9.4

Was able to visit the up and coming, and stunning estate, of Covert Estate in Coombsville. The tasting room in the caves of the estate is the most impressive I've seen.

Though we got to sample their Sauvignon blanc as well as a clone cab and my favorite which was the Sage (Pritchard Hill fruit), I felt like their estate Coombsville cab represented them best. Could smell it a mile away in the glass. Tortoise like speed for the legs. Great medley of red and black fruits as well as tannins proving this can be socked away for a good while and be just fine.
