Lagavulin Distillery

Aged 16 Years Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Apparently one of the oldest Distillery sites in Scotland. Located by the sea on the Isle of Islay this receives the slowest distillation of any Islay malt, then spends 16 years in old oak casks before being bottled. This is very pungent, peaty and smoky. One of my favourite single malts. — 2 months ago

Bob,
You should go to Islay. Lagavulin and Laphroaig and are only a couple of km down the road from each other
It’s a long way from Australia…I don’t want to imagine the flight connects.

@Jamie Lauder Thanks Jamie. I love Laphroaig as well - a toss up which is the most peaty. I’ve visited Talisker on the Isle of Skye which is the spiritual home of the Clan Donald (McDonald). Also had a tour of Glenmorangie over on the east coast.

The Classic Laddie Scottish Barley Unpeated Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Basic nonpeated Islay single malt. I feel simple malt aroma and taste with aggressive sea salt on tongue. It shots my mouth but goes away very quickly. — 7 years ago

Signet Single Malt Scotch Whiskey 46% abv

Said to be an element of oldest and rarest stock (35 to 40 yrs) stock of the distillery - chocolate raisins orange nose, butter pudding Carmel, lime, cashew, spice favor with dried floral finished. So rich like having a toffee, so delicious! — 7 years ago

The Glenlivet

The French Oak Reserve 15 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

A little spicey, not as smooth because of the cognac barrels. Slight fruit, a little bitter on aftertaste. No peat. $85 at target (a bit pricey) might get it if it were in the $50s. — 4 years ago

Happy #WorldWhiskeyDay. Medium amber in appearance. Warm and inviting nose. Sweet and rich layered nose and palate with some sherry influence, tropical fruits and full bodied. A bit sharp but well rounded and rich. — 7 years ago

Port Wood 21 Years Malt

Honey, port wine on the nose with a silky mouthfeel and perfect viscosity. The finish has a burn which is perfect not soft like an aberlour and it’s not sweet either. Masterpiece! — 5 years ago
