At the bottle shop with Becky, chris, patty and me. Nice and smooth! — 4 years ago
Tasting great with some age. Cedar, tobacco, green pepper, plums, chocolate covered tart cherries. More on the herbal/veggie side of Bordeaux blend. I really like this. Probably even better in a few more years. — 4 years ago
Nose has over-ripe stinky cherry, dry leather, moist leather, old horse pasture, tomato leaf, blackberry, dried blueberry, dried mint, saturated oak and old cigar.
Palate has blackberry, partially dried cherry, dried raspberry, (minor) moist garden soil, wet raisins with soft tannins and a long finish. Decanted 4H and it's finally starting to really open up.
Mid-shoulder fill on this particular bottle, remaining bottles are looking better. Quite reminiscent of older Bordeaux in the nose/palate traits.
(BTW I love the old labels when they used to underscore the Cabernet Sauvignon, for me it's always been Cabernet Bosché, history in a bottle!) — 6 years ago

Ameztoi Getariako Txakolina Rubentis Rosé - Mini-Vertical

Palate has tart strawberry, tart raspberry, minor candle wax, dried grapefruit with light tannins.
Txakolina rosé tasting on the 2020 Summer Solstice, perfect for a hot/humid day in the Berkshires. Last bottle from our cellar. — 6 years ago
Excellent chard. Tasting great now. Lemon, honeysuckle, wax, rain on a field from nose. So expressive. Palate is lovely, oyster shells, lemon in multiple forms, some cream, honey on red apples. Just outstanding! — 10 months ago

A pre-dinner bottle while we do meal prep tonight.
Prior notes still apply:
Nose has lime zest, lime juice, green hay, wet granite/limestone pebbles, oxidized green apple peel, polyethylene tubing and tangerine peel.
Palate has Key lime flesh, cold tangerine slice, apricot skin, wet-pulverized limestone, lemongrass, tangerine zest, (minor) dried apricot and light honey on the medium finish, medium acid, great balance. — 5 years ago
Lots of mineral on the nose and an ever so subtle bit of jam there at the end. I wish I could make this an everyday drinker. h/t to Chris Leon for the bottle! — 6 years ago
Wine 6/12 (Pinot Noir aka 'Peanut of the Night')
Nose has ripe cherry, tree bark, roses, blood orange slice, minor cedar notes, molasses cookie and fresh blackberry.
Palate has dried strawberry, ripe cherry, dried citrus, tart cherry, molasses, baking spices with notable tannins/acidity, a very long finish.
A perfect wine for any party, if you don't like this there might be something wrong with you. Are you a dyed-in-the-wool White Zinfandel fan, maybe this isn't your game then.
Once again it is notable that I have made one full trip around the Sun earlier this week. We had our small, social bubble team to the house for celebrating my getting older and somewhat less flexible in advancing age...Whatever will be done when I creast 50? Well, at least it's several years until needing manage that concern.
We enjoyed well-salted Ribeyes (Kinderhook Farm - Valatie, NY, prepared 48h in advance), turning to a beautiful medium-rare after a mere 12m of grill time and smashed, small red potatoes with capers (yeah try it, don't judge me yet). None of the bottles were particularly planned as 'steak wines'; we didn't care as it really was a wine nerd-fest of grapes/regions, from Burgenland, Austria to Brittany, France. Wine and food were on individual plateaux today. This was the vom Boden Spring Experience case, expertly curated by Stephen Bitterolf, and well received by our tasting crew. — 6 years ago

Words escape me...Notes later, best E&M Rosé to date!
Nose has ripe cranberry, mashed raspberry, blood orange flesh, mashed strawberry, recently cut grass, oak bark and a pint of cherries.
Palate has tart cherry, strawberry, over-ripe raspberry, fresh Clementine peel, (minor) baking spice, cold plum with a long finish. Weighty yet finessed
I can't believe I'm stating this, but I think this wine exceeds the 2017 version, which I thought was bonkers, this is better! — 6 years ago

Lemon, peach, rose nose, very well balanced complex flavors, strawberry — 6 years ago

A really nice red blend. A great "go to" especially as the weather warms. Nice for grilled meats outdoors or charcuterie. It's an unusual blend with real depth. — 4 months ago
