Incredible depth of color rim to rim without variation. Inky. Showing slight brick under strong light. Nose of rye toast, tobacco, turned earth, black cherry, oak bark, crumbly roses, dried lavender, and sage. Descriptors do not do justice to the seamless whole of the smells, which are sewn together with espresso and bay leaf, allspice and forest notes. Smooth and silky tannins slip over medium mouthfeel of dried mushroom and graphite, re-emerge as round textural tapestries, filled with candle smoke, dark, rich cherry and ripe black currants. A stunner that needed days of exposure to fully emerge. Enticing and exquisite.

'82 Vintage.
I am not such a fan of the '82 vintage in Bordeaux. IMHO, wines are tight, impenetrable and concentrated. I really struggle to find them appealing today.
This Haut Brion is closed as a coffin but you can definitely foresight a spectacular wine, a monster. Color is deep, very far of what you should expect for a 33 years wine. Nose is dense, cola, mature cherry, meaty, bacon and smoke. Everything in a spectacular proportion. Palate is tight, firm tannins perfectly integrated, beautiful acidity and bright fruit. Smoky dark fruit nose with Juicy Black Cherries & Blackberries, Cassis, Dark Plum, Salinity & Earthiness, Clove Spice, Tobacco... Layers of Flavors are endless & finish feels endless too. I wish the bottles of this were endless!! I will dream of this wine forever. 💭. Fun Facts: (this vintage was the last one produced by Woltner Family who had it since 1924). This 1964 #hautbrion was Incredibly still young & vibrant but had all the traits I love of a top Pessac; sooty, gravel, pencil lead, minerals, soggy earth, red & black fruit.... I just could not stop sniffing it & the palate didn’t disappoint either ... but oh boy that nose was to die for 💗 & how it was still ruby red vs garnet was incredible 😍
