Dark and dense, glass-clinging purple with near black opaque core even in a small tasting pour. Abundant nose yields toasted black fruit compote (yes, I know). Massive full-bodied palate echoes the nose adding marzipan, dried blackberries, and an almost savory Old World graphite note. Fuzzy medium tannins; medium acidity. Long, dark finish. A big red made for food, but heavy umami like steak or lamb is the order of the day. Drink now through maybe 2029.

2019 vintage. Intense af. Fruit and tannins galore and them tannins ain’t leaving anytime soon. If you can survive the palate assault, it’s pretty balanced now…just needs a quarter century to chill the bleep out. You got a 25-spot to spare? I don’t. So decant 5-8 hours in advance of consumption or open a day (or two) beforehand and put the cork back in. Might just avoid a trip to the ER. 3.20.26.
