Warm nose of black currant, black cherry brown bread, chicory and Reishi mushroom -Brazil nut. Burnt currant, black peppercorn, baked blackberry, birch bark, cedar, celery bitters, cigar and burnt toast.

A sleeper of the vintage, the 2015 Charmail has turned out beautifully. The interplay of intense dark fruit and savory notes yields an expressive Haut-Médoc of character and distinction. Oh that’s nice! Dark berries, herbaceous, old leather and earth, cocoa, graphite, hints of spice at the end. Will only get better with time.

Takes a minute to open up, but once it does, it is earthy, medium bodied and fruity. The fruit isn’t overwhelming but restrained and complemented by a nice minerality and bite.
