Château d'Esclans
The Palm By Whispering Angel Côtes de Provence Grenache Rosé Blend

An expressive Rose’. Wild raspberry and melon aromas and flavors. Touch of white pepper spice. Good acidity. Pretty well integrated. Crisp.

I wasn’t expecting much, but this was surprisingly good. Petrol on the nose, but well-balanced acidity. With soy sauce burgers, sushi rice, and sautéed honey-orange bok choy. Channeling sunny beach weather on a rainy evening.

Got me feeling like I’m at the Palm with Allen. Mediocre swill, but it’s interesting that America’s fave rosé needs a lower tier label. This is yer Bud Heavy to Whispering Angel’s Michelob. Chuck Shaw would fare well in a blind tasting with this.

Jul 11th, 2020I post most of my reviews saying I'm enjoying the wine at the park across the street. The truth is, this is the first time enjoying a bottle of wine in the park itself. This palm tree themed wine seemed appropriate though in our climate, palm trees are nowhere to be found. This one's got vacation - or at least lunchtime - written all over it. I'd describe it as prickly like a cactus which is the fun here. This one's no lightweight and the sweetness is very restrained. Not a chicky wine by any stretch. Dare I say there's power in this rosé? A great choice for lunchtime in the park!
