Château Latour
Premier Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend

The 2009 Latour has an open and generous bouquet: a mixture of red and black fruit and touches of graphite and loam. This vintage displays a light marine/brine influence. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity, a firm grip and superb balance. This is very focused, with impressive salinity on the finish that lingers nicely. This is an extraordinarily beautiful Latour. Tasted blind from double magnum at a 20-year retrospective at the château. (Neal Martin, Vinous, February 2024)

It's all here and you can't dispute the pedigree. You just have to be patient if you want the most from this. From magnum.

Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (91.3%) and Merlot (8.7%). A bit tight and unexpressive right out of the bottle. After a 45 minute decant, this wine was awake and very alive. Dark ruby color. Aromas of graphite, forest floor, wet gravel and dark black fruit. Flavors of black currant/cherry/berry/plum, tobacco, baking spices, dark chocolate and minerals. Distinct notes of smoky oak and wet earth on the long and lingering finish. Tannins were a bit lighter than expected at first but developed with aeration. Quite savory, rich, full bodied and powerful. Beautiful texture. Exceptional (once it opened up) but not the bottle of near perfection that I had heard so much about. Thanks for sharing, Petey and Happy Birthday, Kase!

🤯 Mind Blown. This is still so young but it’s a ROCKSTAR. Mocha, Blackberry, crystalline tannins that just sparkle and a string of graphite to let you know it’s Latour. Awesome. Will prob last 50 years+ and every time you drink it, it will be amazing. My 97 is where it is now. No doubt 100pts coming.
