Bright ruby color. Aromas of red and black berries, currants, black pepper and baking spices. Flavors of red and black cherry/currant/raspberry fruit, black licorice, and all those spices. A knockout left bank Bordeaux. I’ve read that the 2005s may go longer than the potentially even more vaunted 2000s and I might agree based on this bottle. Decanted 5 hours. Cork in perfect shape. Amazing depth of fruit and a ton of Bordeaux earth. Nose goes on and on as does the finish. Was an excellent pairing but a very good but simple roast chicken. — a month ago

Very dark garnet color. Aromas of black fruit, violets, fresh herbs and wet stones. Flavors of black cherry, blackberry, mocha and red and black licorice. Beautiful mineral note on the long and silky dry finish. Outstanding balance of tannin, acidity and texture. Medium-plus bodied. A bit more substantial than I expected.
