Château Teynac
St. Julien Red Bordeaux Blend
St. Julien, Médoc, Bordeaux, France

Deep Ruby color with aromas of red and black fruits with slight toasty spice, Cabernet Sauvignon dominant. On the palate flavors of black raspberry, currants and black cherry with licorice, oak and tobacco. Fine tannins, medium+ finish, ending with fruit, oak and earthy spice. Drinking well now!

Sometimes is good to go back to basic, we used to love a Cru Bourgeois in the 80’s and 90’s.
But like the most of us we climb the ladder and spent our money in the higher ranges. Nothing wrong with that but there are nice wines in this categorie.

I went to a rare Bordeaux tasting, and bought a different non-classified 2019 Saint-Julien that I still have to pick up. So I bought this one as a baseline to compare, since I don’t know much about Bordeaux overall. I can definitely feel the bolder Saint-Julien style - round dark red fruit, rich, assertive, but still balanced and elegant. The finish is too tannic though, leaving a flat, slightly bitter aftertaste. Air helps, but it becomes vinegary on the second day. Not bad, but doesn’t compare to the higher price point.
