Domaine Faiveley (Joseph Faiveley)
Bourgogne Pinot Noir
Burgundy, France
Love faiveley wines, always consistent. Even for a Bourgogne, lots of cherry, cola, mushroom, violets, nice acidity and spice. Surprisingly, pretty tannic. Maybe from whole cluster fermentation.

Pretty. Violets, minerals, mushroom, cranberry and cola on the nose. Good acidity, somewhat candied fruit and cherry cola on the palate.

Very Burgundian but a little thin even for a Pinot Noir

Super tight, needs loads of time in bottle. Will be a very nice Burgundy in several more years.

Merriman's cuisine would probably enhance any beverage, and it especially helped this Pinot. The short finish didn't matter over a plate of seared ahi, while the wine opened up quickly with a sour cherry tang. Very nice.
