Such a classic Les Vergelesses nose. Brambly, bright and damson all at the same time with gorgeous earthen dampness. Big cherry, cranberry, cranberry bog and spice. Really compelling spice and so much depth. Palate is stunning. Gorgeous, tensile mid season and black cherry fruit with wonderful clarity and precision. Some wild mint on the nose now. Great concentration and density. Very sappy. Perfect balance and so pure. Finish is elegant with gorgeously ripe tannins. What a vintage 23 is at Girard. The nose gets some nice Twizzler action after some air and my goodness the fruit is just transcendent. After two hours the nose is gorgeous with moss, spice and wet earth. Juicy palate and just gorgeous fruit. Fresh and energetic. Wonderful.
