Enderle & Moll
Muschelkalk Pinot Noir
Baden, Germany
2009. This has aged into a perfect dark cherry, smoky tea monster with a slightly more supple texture than in its youth and the same feral earth notes I adore from this producer. I agree with recent CT tasters: this is ready to go now. Not a lot to gain by waiting. Reminds me of Chambolle/Volnay. Even Echezeaux, really. All hail Sven and Florian! Rien sans peine, indeed. It was worth it!

I will have to open another bottle it's excellent but over dinner I did not have enough time to describe it.

Well I kind of trashed this wine with a 9.1 - 9.2 upon opening. As mentioned corks are shot drink up. But as this stayed under my Argon line for a good week it came around. Cannot beat the Buntsandstein. But still really a hell of a wine and a showcase for German Pinot. Cherry 🍒 nose, crushed stone. Touch cedar. Herbs. This is like Burghs used to be decades ago / the wine maker took a hell of a risk.

4 bottles within a week. Corks are in trouble they all seeped. Their top bottling in 2009 one barrel made / 60 year old vines / clone no idea? Still quite tannic. Needs 1 hour to open up before that flat/dull. Raspberries, tart cherry, red currant, chalky. Less complicated compared to 5 years ago some bottle variation. My strong advice - drink now (I re-corked 2 for 2029 for science). But honestly this is beyond its prime! OK gains significant elegance and pose after 2 hours of air. So yes still good but tough to figure out - and recommendation still the same drink up! May be folks luck out on the upside.

What can I say? Needs about 30 min of air odd at first and than absolutely brillant. Raspberry driven, thyme, touch oregano, lime, quite tannic at first which mellows out in the glass over time. Drink now or keep for 1-2 years more. A benchmark wine. A unicorn, A singleton, no one makes wine like Enderle & Moll. A perfect match with Salmon. Needs food.
