Bolgheri Superiore Red Blend

Poured into a decanter about 30 minutes prior to service. The 2015 pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and some fine sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with gorgeous notes of red currants, Morello Cherry, mixed brambles, red and purple flowers, tobacco, black tea, iron rich earth, subtle cool and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. This is phenomenal and has me asking myself, “why don’t I seek out more Grattamacco?” Wow. Obviously a winner with lasagna. Drink now with some patience and through 2045.

Great value. Bold, robust. Tannins, oak. Structure. Licorice, cassis, blackberries.

Always balanced. Medium bodied. Still youthful. Taste some of the dark ripe fruit, a little smoke and minerals.

It’s always so good. Medium tannins and acid. A little mushroom, a little organic funk, a little tobacco. Everything in medium balance.

Brooding Bordeaux blend tasting of deep, dark fruit. A meditative wine that needs steak and deep conversation.

Beautifully full bouquet. A daily man's Super Tuscan. A melange of perfume - fruity, sweet, savoury, old leather, oak. Chewy. Brilliant complexity on the palate represented by it's nose. Raisin, peppercorn, graphite, leaves.Much patience needed for this.

Cab dominant. This will age well.

HWT - very nice, food friendly red. Not worth retail $85 though, but delicious as I didn’t pay for it!
