Marchesi Antinori
Tignanello Toscana Super Tuscan Blend
Tuscany, Italy
The Antinori family of Florence, one of the world's oldest and most distinguished wine producers, has lived in Tuscany since the 14th century. Blend of 80% Sangiovese, 13% Cab Sauv & 7% Cab Franc. Deep Ruby, aromas of black berry fruit aromas with herb and sweet spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry and cherry with cacao, vanilla and spice. Fine graceful tannins, long finish, well balanced, savory ending with juicy mineral tones. Very Nice!

Tignanello 2016 Magnum
As much as I avoid drinking super Tuscans I must say that this 2016 is a terrific wine. Precise, earthy, saline.

2016 vintage. Decanted and tasted after 15 minutes and one hour. Mostly front and mid-palate push. Medium body. Some spice. Some chunk. Some fruit. Fairly balanced. Needs to sort out some issues and will likely show better in 3-5 years. 6.12.26.

Had the 2016 after I had the 2015. 2015 was exceptional. 2016 much darker red fruits. Loved it as it was opening uo more. Delish

I think I preferred the 2015 but ever so slightly and as much as I struggle to believe glasses make a difference they poured the 2016 in a big cab glass and I think that distracted from the flavors that were evident in the tighter 2015 glass.

Jun 24th, 2024Nice but not quite at the true top level, especially given the price. Decanted 4 hours which is necessary at this point. Nice pairing with a big T-bone steak cooked in the Tuscan style. Could use more acid on the finish. Probably needs a few years to come together.
