Turns out if you let a good vintage sit for 11 years... even THIS can be considered a great amarone. More along the subtle, well-balanced and nicely rounded style. Glad I waited.

Aged deep dark color. Restraint but quite impressive raisins, blackberry, tobacco, chocolate. Dry, Tannin and bitterness dissolved. Muscular amarone.

2006. Bought a bottle a few years after release and opened it up a little while after that. It was corked, and The Still replaced the bottle for me. I’ve let the replacement sit in the cellar until now because I was worried it might also be tainted... this bottle is so good! Pure cherry-berry fruit, velvety texture, enough tannins to pair with dinner, and no heat from the 15% abv.

A massive, structured Amarone that tastes like it could have been bottled last year instead of 10+ years ago. The nose is dark with stewed fruits and earth. On the palate, stewed black fruits and integrated, chewy oak lead to notes of wet earth, leather and soft acidity. The finish is long and lush with lingering soft tannins.

Bought in 2012 and aged for 4 years, it was well balanced, fruity aromas came through when paired w steak. 15% alcohol hardly noticeable. Good for one or two glasses.
