Tortoniano Barolo Nebbiolo

All of the things that I love about a wine.

However! (And it’s a big however)… this needs another 5 years.

It could only be one thing.

Violet, lavender, reductive, sour and juicy red cherry, mint, crushed stones, game, ash, mushroom too. High acid, high tight tannins, full body. Wait another 10 years...

11 year old Barolo that aged beautifully. Still strong hints of cherries, rose, leather, and acorns. Tannins mellowed. Lasting finish.

This is a medium ruby wine.

Aromas and flavors are well-defined and include notes of tart red and black cherry, blueberry, pomegranate, violet, rose, licorice, star anise, cinnamon, nutmeg, cedar, clove, and new saddle leather.

This wine is dry with medium+ acidity, a medium+ body, high alcohol (14%) and medium+ tannins that are a little chalky but otherwise well-integrated and balanced with the notable acidity and good concentration of aromas and flavors.

Vintage 2015. Drinking nicely now but definitely has legs for further aging still.

2015 vintage. Needed some time in the decanter but was lovely. More years in cellar would be great.
