Double-decanted about 30 minutes ago. Like the Burg I opened last night, this too is showing a concerning off note in the nose. Doesn’t seem like TCA but not sure what it is. The palate is nice. Tight dark cherry and lots of earthiness. Reserving judgment until I get a fix on the nose as it’s exposed to air.

UPDATE: A couple of hours later, the weird note has blown off, but the wine is not particularly distinguished. So I’m a bit, but not profoundly, disappointed.

Pop and pour. Notes from 2 hrs in glass. Much more fruit forward than the Freedom Hill tasted recently. On the nose:.overripe plum, maraschino cherry, and a soft brambly note that tames the overtness of the nose a bit. On the palate: excellent acidity, but a touch disjointed, with raspberry and cola complemented by some stewed tomato....hmm. Still, some finely grained tannin on the hi-toned finish. Seems like this btl may have been compromised in some way, since it doesn't show much like a Patty Green wine.
