Dutton-Goldfield

Dutton Ranch Emerald Ridge Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022

2022 vintage. Light-medium/medium body. Pretty for pretty's sake. Wanted more structure but hey! Have some more pretty! Wouldn't mind revisiting in 3-4 years when overt impressions/ forefront markers blend, dissipate and integrate, 1.23.26. — 15 days ago

Château Lynch-Bages

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 1990

1990 Chateau Lynch Bages in Nebuchadnezzar. At a Lynch Bages dinner for the Commanderie de Bordeaux NY Chapter. Paired over the course of three courses vs the 1995, 1996 and 2000. The 1998 was also served earlier in the evening. So youthful, given the large format. Still got to experience different stages of evolution of the wine as it was poured throughout the night. Well balanced and beat out the other wines that night, with rhe 1996 showing more pepper and spice but also green bell pepper from the Cab Franc. The 2000 also showed strongly, but could not outshine the 1990. — 2 months ago

Clos Rougeard

Saumur Champigny Cabernet Franc 2015

The initial taste had me as it was so delicate with the red fruit that seemed to gain strength in my mouth. The green note is there but only really as an accent on the finish. CF from Loire Valley is under appreciated. — 3 months ago

Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin

Yellow Label Brut Champagne Blend

Somm David T
9.0

Not the champagne I had in mind for tonight, but sometimes circumstances play their part.

This is pleasant enough. It will go well with my almond tart later.

The mouthfeel shows nice mousse, somewhat lively acidity, bruised golden/red/green apple to apple sauce, bruised pear, white citrus blend-grapefruit w/ pith leading, quince, touch of brown sugar, some yeastiness, baguette crust, graham cracker, volcanic minerals w/ clay, white spice, caramel notes, vanillin, sea spray, grippy, grainy chalk, sea fossils-oysters, limestone marl, withering lilies, spring flowers, nice acidity and a well balanced, good length, elegant finish that lasts nearly 90 second and lands on mid intensity minerals and spice.

Photos of; the champagne house of Veuve Clicqoit and the widow herself. You see her under the metal gage and plated over the cork.
