Surprised how much I like this. Nose has ripe dark berries, black olive, cracked dark stone. Soft and mouthfilling, the flavors are less jammy than many southern Rhônes these days. Palate is dominated by olive, iodine, and cracked stone notes, with pure, dark fruit undergirding it all. Clingy flavors, with lots of soft tannin. So kind of “old school” on the palate. Which I love. Might have to do with the fact that Visan is one of the cooler of the southern Rhône appellations. Nice!
