Allomi Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Very nice

This chased the Chappellet, which was was a tough act to follow, But this Hess went toe-to-toe. And while it fell a shade short, at $23 per, it’s a winner. It presents superbly, and if you close your eyes, it’s tough to discern the difference. The Chappellet is slightly more extracted and dense, but beyond that, honors even. This is a case purchase. I’m going back to the well!

A favorite of mine. Plum and blackberry notes with some cocoa as well. This magnum opened well over the night.

Super smooth. Great with dinner but also by itself.

Light wine, goes well with Italian food.

Very Round

Big and jammy, with a strong acid and study tannin on the finish. Despite having all of the elements right, the balance is off because it’s almost overwhelmingly sweet up front, then moves into a finish where the acid and tannin spike out.

Total disappointment.
