Stags' Leap Winery was one of the early pioneers in establishing Petite Sirah as a premium varietal. The vines date back to 1893, but the block is actually a field blend of 85% Petite Sirah and 15% other unknown varietals.
Our group tasted the 1977 - 1992 vintages (32 to 47 years old). The 1977 was my favorite along with the group’s. — 2 years ago
Nose: Leather, black licorice turning to green pepper notes.
A bit hot, it relaxes a bit with a decant. Short finish, the taste doesn't offer the depth and complexity that is suggested through the nose.

47% Cab Sav, 37% Malbec and the rest is Petite Verdot and Merlot. Always one of my go to wines and this vintage is surely not disappointing. — 6 years ago
Perfect with my steak & shrimp dinner! Not sweet at all (which is normally what I look for in wine).. I’m sure I’d be told to serve warm but wine for me must be cold. I’ll buy again for compliments to my meals. Could even see sipping it for a nightcap on cool nights. — 7 years ago

Very bright but very excellent Bourgogne rouge. — 7 years ago
Perfectly balanced. Subbed with hot smoked salmon, which otherwise is hard to pair with. I cannot remember a better white wine. $47. — 9 months ago
What a pleasure to share with dinner @ Rocca in Burlingame. Solid cork after 47 years. Very balanced with mature fruit that did not show its age. The Merlot provided wonderful flavors of light berry compote and a deft touch of oak. Classic Bordeaux in every way. 👍👍🍷🍷 — 4 years ago
This wine hits above its class! Fantastic pounder with fruit forward berries and vanilla. Well balanced and a great, light red blend. We’ll pickup a case cuz this will be fun to have on hand... — 6 years ago
Sourced from the esteemed ‘Olsen Vineyard’ in the Yakima Valley, this wine is a compelling blend of 47% Cinsault with 27% Grenache and 26% Syrah. Pretty red rose and watermelon with orange blossom and shades of white pepper aromatics all build in the glass. The palate unveils a silky texture and a rich, gratifying mouthfeel. Once in the mouth, bright guava, strawberry and lighter earthy and wet stone undertones round out this downright delicious Rose. While beautiful in its youth, this impressive effort will cellar well over the next five plus years. Drink 2019-2024- 92 — 7 years ago

Tasted blind. From a bottle that I’m told had a top shoulder fill. Reddish tawny color, translucent but with intensity. Port-like nose with notes of black cherries, plum, tan spices, molasses/brown sugar and some cranberry. Earthy and ethereal in the mouth. Intensively rich. Finish lasts forever. Guessed 47 Cheval Blanc. I’ve been fortunate to have this wine a few times now. It’s a freak of nature, which is very evident when sitting next to its 49 sibling. A top all time bottle for sure. — 8 years ago
Sipping Fine Wine
Referred to as the “Baby Grange,” blend of 53/47 Cab Sauv & Shiraz, aged for 12 months in American oak, partly in previous-vintage Grange casks. Dark Ruby with aromas of fresh black fruits, complex with sweet spice. On the palate flavors of juicy black cherry and blackberry flavors with notes of cacao, oak and toasty spices, from cooler vintage. Well balanced with acidity, full ripe tannins, long ending with smoky spice, fruit well integrated with oak, drink over next 10 years+, will only get better. Nice! — 5 months ago
