Light berries, floral, patio puncher — a year ago
Deep ruby; pronounced intensity aromas of vinyl, tar, earth, and leather upon pouring; more fruit as it opens up, blackberry, black plum, cocoa; dry, medium acid, high tannins, medium alcohol, full, medium plus intensity flavors consistent with aromas; medium plus finish, this is a BIG wine, very complex and concentrated — 5 years ago
Saw the other note about Big Top— this bottle also from Big Top some years ago for $6. It started out rough, but after 30-40 minutes it’s pretty darn amazing. — 6 years ago

Fruity and pleasant, maybe a little too dry? — 3 years ago
Lots of history to this varietal from this place. It’s not a very common grape. And it’s name checked in the Shakespeare opera ‘Don Giovanni’. Says so on the label. Dark colored grape makes a dark colored wine. Almost black. It’s supposed to smell like violets according to my research. Not sure I know the smell of violets enough to place that. I’d say berry cobbler. And maybe blood orange. Mushrooms? Flavors are dry, simple and elegant. Reminds me of some good Southern Italian stuff I’ve had. Plenty tart. Lower alcohol at 12.5%. This is interesting and strange stuff. Thanks Grocery Outlet for bringing stuff like this to the masses. — 4 years ago
