Taste like Chianti from Depalma’s house pour — a month ago
Ruby. Nose of tobacco, smoke, cherry, fresh blackcurrant, violet, earthy. Palate of ripe cherry, blackcurrant, leather, vanilla, clove. Medium + velvet Tannin, medium+ acidity.
Paired with USDA T-bone. It wasn't just a meal; the earthy depth of the wine transformed the mushrooms and steak into a multidimensional experience. It reminded me why I value the art of pairing so much. — 5 months ago
This is precise and nicely done for a bargain-priced Barbaresco. Nose, with air, shows very pure dark cherry fruit, a bit of rose petal, smoky crushed rock and gravel, and some spice notes. It’s concentrated, chiseled, and fairly full in the mouth. Loads of dried cherry and stone flavors. Significant but soft tannin, and good acids. Enjoyable now but will likely get better over the next several years. — 4 years ago

Nine different heirloom grapes varietals blended and aged in oak - went perfect with my sausage/ mushroom fire oven pizza and 4:00 PM NFL games. Life is pretty good! — 7 years ago
Deep ruby; medium plus intensity aromas of black plum, cassis, bramble, dried rose petals, savory herbs, sage, rosemary, cedar, incense; dry, medium acid, medium plus tannins, high alcohol, medium plus body, medium intensity flavors of cassis, black plum, bramble, savory herbs, underbrush, cloves; long finish, very concentrated flavors, aromas a bit more complex than flavors, well-integrated, very good — 7 years ago
100% Sangio. 100% incredibile! For a 28th anniversary dinner with my wonderful wife. Sight unseen (so to speak) I was impressed beyond words. Went to Coltibuono this summer but didn’t taste this; however they swore up and down that the Sangioveto had the goods. And it did in spades! So rich and savory. The depth of cherry fruit and silky tannin is off the charts. I only wish I had another bottle to age for 3-5 years and taste some heaven then. Molto buono!!! — 9 years ago
Ottima beva. 2021 bevuto nel 2026 può invecchiare altri anni — 3 months ago
Very good, as always (my third vintage). A cherry, strawberry, leather, vanilla and smoke maybe. High, pleasant acidity. Tannins on their way to smoothness. — 9 months ago
N: Iron, sanguine, cherries, strawberries, bark, the forest.
P: Much much better than I thought it might be. Rainier cherries, bright acids, linear, medium weight body, nice slightly grippy finish.
Did this a disservice with a PnP before burgers…but wow.
Unfurling should be great.
Turns out, this is Starderi fruit.
As it airs, tar and rose come fore, more grip.

Mama Hafez dinner, Dec 14, 2019 — 7 years ago
Had this in Florence and was only 18€. So good and maybe I imagined it but when the waiter decanted it, it smelled more flavorful before I took a sip. Very good Chianti for the price. — 7 years ago
Red fruits, very smooth with a tannic finish — 8 years ago
Sipping Fine Wine
Badia a Coltibuono, or "The Abbey of good harvest," lies in the heart of the Chianti Classico area, between Florence and Siena. The Abbey is approximately 2000 years old. Blend of 90% Sangiovese; 10% Colorino, Canaiolo, & Ciliegiolo. Deep Ruby color, aromas of black fruit and earthy spice nose. On the palate flavors of blackberry and cherry with savory tannins, good balance, black pepper and cacao notes. Medium+ finish ending with earthy mineral notes. Good now. — 22 days ago
