Extremely funny part about this one is that most people have never had or do not like sweet wines. It seems to me though they don’t know how to drink them very well. At this party we had a mixture of hard and soft cheeses, bread, and sausage. Showing people that a small sip of this wine combined with some of those flavors produced something much more interesting and tolerable feels like a big coup on my part. My guests went from not wanting to wanting another bottle of this wine. Honeyed apricots and dried peach flavors. Kind of dusty in a raw honey kind of way. Présentation: Le Giusto di Notri est l'une des cuvées phares du domaine Tua Rita, situé à Suvereto dans la région côtière de la Maremme en Toscane. Ce vin représente l'expression toscane d'un assemblage bordelais, élaboré avec la précision et le savoir-faire qui ont fait la réputation de cette propriété. Aspect Visuel: Robe d'un rubis profond et intense aux reflets violacés, typique d'un vin encore jeune mais déjà concentré. La couleur est opaque au centre avec une légère transparence sur les bords. Nez: Le bouquet est riche et complexe, s'ouvrant sur des notes intenses de fruits noirs (cassis, mûre, cerise noire) soutenues par des nuances de prune fraîche. L'élevage en bois apporte des arômes élégants de vanille, de cèdre et d'épices douces. Avec l'aération se développent des notes balsamiques, d'eucalyptus, d'iode et de réglisse, ainsi que de subtiles touches méditerranéennes de garrigue et de laurier. Bouche: L'attaque est ample et soyeuse, révélant un vin structuré mais déjà accessible malgré sa jeunesse. L'équilibre entre puissance et élégance est remarquable, soutenu par une acidité fraîche qui apporte tension et longueur. La finale est longue et persistante, légèrement réglissée, avec une belle fraîcheur qui invite à la dégustation. 2015 vintage. Sauternes will have to focus more and more on dry wines if they want to survive, but I strongly believe in the potential for dry white wines in this region. This is 100% Sémillon made by Sauternes Cru Classé Sigalas Rabaud. Deep yellow. Intense perfume of pineapple, flowers, honey and a hint of brioche. Powerful taste with exotic dried fruit, rather low-acid but well-balanced. Some residual sugar is obvious in the finish, but it works well for this exuberant style. Abv. 14,5%. — 6 years ago

11/17/20 Tuesday night and to follow up on last night's Gaja Ca'Marcanda Promis I have opened the 2016 Ca' Marcanda Bolgheri Magari. A Super Tuscan blend of 60% Cabernet Franc, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot.

On the nose there is black cherry, plum, black raspberry, strawberry, mint, bell pepper, mocha and crushed gravel.

On the palate there is black cherry, red plum, black currant, green bell pepper, cedar, herbs and an earthyness.

This wine is full bodied with a smooth velvety mouthfeel, medium + acidity and medium + smooth round tannins that leads to a long dark fruit finish. A beautiful expression of a complex super tuscan. Located opposite the Chateau d'Yquem, the Rabaud-Promis castle, on the hill Rabaud since the late eighteenth century. Sweet stone fruit aromas with hints of honey. On the palate full flavors of orange and peach with notes of citrus notes adding a bit of spice. Balanced acidity, rich finish ending with botrytis-like character. Very nice! — 8 years ago
