Competently made wine, but Leoville Barton is always my least favorite of the Leovilles. Just not very exciting or dynamic. Served with braised short-ribs in a savoy cabbage, with potato Napoleon, confit carrots, and a bitter chocolate jus. The chocolate actually helped the Leoville Barton significantly more than when it was on its own. — 2 years ago

Pretty ruby dress with brillance. Open nose, very Burgundian, between red fruits (cherry) and toasted oaky notes. Mouth, consistent with the nose, delivering as you taste many aromatic nuances, undergrowth among others. A lot of freshness yet for this 2015, it can still be drunk and evolve for several years.
— 4 years ago

A delicious Merlot based Napa blend.
Showing black and red fruits with cedar, vanilla, leather, spices, earth, chocolates, tobacco, spices, peppercorn, coffee and mocha.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate and easy drinking with nice complexity and mouthfeel.
Good right out of the bottle and better with airtime.
Still young and would be better in 5 to 10 years.
A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.
14.6% alcohol by volume.
92 points.

Dusty cherries, plum, smoke and cellar notes evolve to aromas of balsamic, tobacco and anise. Touches of rose pedal and tar as well. Tart cherry pie fruit with plum, strawberry and cranberry on the palate. Chalk and rusty nail add depth. Finishes with elegance and shining acidity. Tannins are not undersold, however. In a beautiful place now, but no rush. Really enjoyed the evolution in the glass. Pair with cedar smoked salmon or truffle pasta. — 7 years ago
Beautiful wine. Silky, slightly smoky and easy to drink. So often you hear fruit forward, it is not. Fruit on the end makes it juicy and happy. 😎🍷🇺🇸 — 7 years ago
The 2006 Bordeaux vintage. The vintage while wasn’t Bordeaux’s best, it certainly wasn’t one of its worst. It had the unenviable position of following a grand 2005 vintage. I think better than 2000, maybe 09 & 10? Jury is still out. The Bordelaise also got greedy and raised their prices from 05. That was a mistake when it came to selling the 2006 vintage and it laid another layer of bad taste in consumers minds.
I really enjoy Pichon Lalande’s style/craft. The 06 is good, not great. In fact, I enjoyed this better w/o the lamb.
The fruits are just ripe. Velvety, rounded M+ tannins. Brambly blackberries, dryish black plum, black cherries, black raspberries, strawberries, some raspberry hues, oak barrel shavings, graphite, dry soils, dry tobacco & leather, dry clay, soft but dark spice, some dry herbs, soft baking spices- clove, nutmeg, cinnamon & vanillin, light milk chocolate, caramel hues, black tea, anise, some mid berry cola, dry & withering, dark & red flowers, violets, decent, round acidity, balanced, neatly structured/tensioned with an elegant finish that lasts just over 90 seconds and falls on dry earth and soft, dark spice.
Still acceding and has 15 plus yrs of good drinking ahead. Could make a case for rounding up to 93.
Paired w/ Grilled Rack of Lamb, Served with Rosemary Jus, Fondant Potatoes and Steamed Broccoli.

Gevrey-Chambertin style Pinot Noir from Sonoma Coast. Strong masculine but elegant fruit to start with notes of smoke. Not fruity like many California Pinots but intense. Amazing value at under $40. — a year ago

Smelled like fresh baked pizza out of the oven at first pour. Continued to give off plenty of funky and herbaceous character for a couple days. So much savory character here backed with bubbles. A unique thing yes — 6 years ago
